Above Down Inside Out has been one of my favorite quotes in the Chiropractic world since starting Chiropractic school in 1988. As I chose the Fountainhead of Chiropractic, Palmer College were the first Chiropractic Adjustment was given in Davenport Iowa by Dr. DD Palmer, thus restoring the hearing of Harvey Lillard in 1895. Dr. BJ Palmer the son of DD was the researcher and developer of Chiropractic today. He created and developed the technique called Toggle Recoil which was later termed ADIO or Above Down Inside Out. This type of Chiropractic Adjustment has no twisting or turning of the neck, just a specific directed force on the upper neck vertebra.

This philosophy of his research was based upon that all energy and life forces come from the brain through skull in the neck and down the spinal cord, through the body and out. The Upper Cervical adjustments remove any interference in the upper cervical C-1 (Atlas) and C-2 (Axis) regions that can vastly interfere with the amount of nerve impulses and energy that come out of the skull from the brain. The importance of this connection between the brain and spine is very similar to the circuit box junction of the house. Short circuit of the electricity and dimming of lights can occur when nerves are irritated, vertebra out of alignment blocking essential life signals. This blocking of nerve circuitry can shift the body, developing spinal/postural compensations and have profound effects on someone's health. Spinal misalignments occur from injuries, accidents, poor habits, toxins, chemicals and stress.

Upper Cervical Misalignments (subluxations) are determined by precise analysis through X-Ray giving the Chiropractor a very detailed correction and adjustment direction to restore a person's nerve flow and health. Just as the importance of electricity and circuitry in your house if a circuit is blown in the circuit box restoration of circuit turns back on the electric or light bulb. Proper Alignment of the spine restores nerve flow to all glands organs and tissues improving the patient's overall health.
